"We are very proud to partner with InterContinental Hotels Group in this venture which will really enhance the high level of accommodation for the increasing number of business travelers and other visitors we are seeing in Saudi Arabia every year. The Alkhobar and Madinah destinations are key for our country and we look forward to welcoming guests from around the world," Mohamed Sulaiman told the media over the weekend.

While Alkhobar forms part of the Dammam metropolitan area, Madinah is located in the country's popular west side and both are key destinations for the thriving corporate travel and religious tourism industries in the country. Crowne Plaza Alkhobar is expected to open by the end of summer 2007 and Crowne Plaza Al-Madinah will follow in 2008, Phil Kasselis, vice president development, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East & Africa, said.
